The Hinge and Push test is used to evaluate the ability to open the knee and ankle joints. This test is performed by having the patient stand with their heels together. The doctor then has the patient push against his or her knees with his or her hands, while he or she gently resists this movement with his or her hands. If a muscle is weak, it will not be able to resist this motion. This test can also be used to assess weakness in other areas of the body as well.
